Rising grid costs, volatile energy prices and increasing requirements for companies’ energy supply are making in-house power generation ever more relevant. Photovoltaics makes it possible to cover part of energy demand directly on site and reduce electricity purchases from the public grid in the long term.
With the final EAG funding call in 2026, companies can also obtain additional financial support for their planned investment.
Funding call from October 8 to 22, 2026
The third funding call starts on October 8, 2026 at 5:00 PM and ends on October 22, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Funding is available for the construction of new photovoltaic systems and the expansion of existing systems up to a capacity of 1,000 kWp. Electricity storage systems can also be included as part of the call, provided they are applied for together with a new or expanded photovoltaic system.
The following grant rates apply for 2026:
- Category A up to 10 kWp: EUR 150/kWp
- Category B over 10 to 20 kWp: EUR 140/kWp
- Category C over 20 to 100 kWp: maximum EUR 130/kWp
- Category D over 100 to 1,000 kWp: maximum EUR 120/kWp
- Electricity storage: EUR 150/kWh
According to the current EAG Investment Grants Ordinance, EUR 2 million in funding is available for each of Categories A, B, C and D for the October call.
Especially relevant for industry and commerce: Category D
For larger commercial and industrial sites, Category D for photovoltaic systems from over 100 to 1,000 kWp is particularly relevant.
Unlike the smaller Categories A and B, applications in Categories C and D are ranked via a reverse auction procedure. This means the submission time is not the only deciding factor: projects requesting a lower grant amount per kWp are ranked higher when the available funds are allocated.
Careful preparation and strategic bidding are therefore key components of the application process.
Electricity storage: funding only in combination with photovoltaics
Investing in a battery storage system can also be supported with 150 euros per kWh. However, a prerequisite is that the storage system is applied for in conjunction with a newly installed or expanded photovoltaic system. Standalone funding for a new storage system or a storage expansion is not provided under this funding model.
Especially for energy-intensive companies, the combination of photovoltaics and battery storage can be economically attractive. Surplus solar power can be stored and used later. At the same time, battery storage opens up further options, such as optimizing self-consumption or reducing operational peak loads.
Additional “Made in Europe” bonus
If you use components with European value creation in your project, you can also benefit from the “Made in Europe” bonus. For eligible PV modules, inverters and electricity storage systems, a 10% surcharge on the granted funding rate is possible in each case—overall, this can result in a surcharge of up to 30%, provided the relevant requirements are met.

A successful funding submission begins well before the actual funding call. Technical design, coordination with the grid operator and the right funding strategy should be considered early on.
